End of Snowbirding through mid June
Our last stop before leaving for home was Tucson AZ with Janice and Archie. We visited downtown Tucson ~ particularly interesting was the Presidio. A few pictures and information are shown here. As always, double click on the photo for better viewing and anything underlined is a hot link to more information.
This picture is a painting within the Presidio. We had to look twice to see that it was a painting and not people dressed in period clothing.
Before the four of us left the area, Janice sighted-in her camera for taking a photo of all of us with the RVs parked on BLM land.
On our trip home we just happened to get this picture of the solar being generated in Nevada.
We traveled over 3000 miles pulling the long trailer with our motor home. There were no problems....until we made the last turn to our home in Moscow. This is a picture of the damage Tony did to the neighbors' three mail boxes and one Moscow City sign. This is one he won't live down for a long, long time.
April was very cold....and as we do every year, we wished we hadn't rushed home so quickly. May brought a lot of activity. Granddaughter Cally, brother Bill and his family and I all did Bloomsday together (a 12 kilometer race in Spokane WA). The first photo is me with another runner dressed up for the occasion. We had no idea who the person was.
This photo shows how everyone sheds their cloths as they begin running. Extra clothing is thrown everywhere. Later, volunteers come by and pick up the clothing and donate it to Goodwill (a nationwide charity organization).
This is a photo to show the thousands of people in the race.
This is Cally and I having our quality time together.
May continued to be busy with Mother's Day visitors throughout the week...Kelly from Little Rock Arkansas; Jim and daughter, Brittany, from Green River WY; Bill, Janet and mother Shirley from Cheney WA; and Judi, Ray and granddaughter Jacki from Seattle WA. I took a road trip to Seattle WA to see Ken's clan and a short stop at Ray and Judi's. Later in the month we went to Green River for nephew, Cody's high school graduation to be with Dick and Cindy; Jim and Kathi and family; and a lot of the Burke family.
In June we took a trip to Orovada NV. Tony's cousin Linda and Mike and friends Butch and Mary met us there to spend a few days on Randy and Nancy's farm in a valley in Nevada. Dan from California also met us there.
A picture of the valley from high on the mountain. Saw phlox growing wild up here.
On the trip down we saw the most interesting statute about Marie Dorian. Look closely at the picture to see that it depicts her trudging through snow with inscription "In Mid Winter 1814 Marie Dorian fled from near Parma to Walla Walla ~ 500 miles ~~ one of the greatest feats of endurance ever known".
We went to the local store about five miles from the farm ~ picture shows Tony inside the store.
But, outside was even more interesting, This was a home-made large sail car or sand yacht able to seat many people and reportedly able to reach 80 mph on a good windy day. An engine and transmission were thrown in to get back home.
We left Orovada to visit Sharon and Gary in Middleton ID where we all took a road trip to Idaho City.
This huge log was a site to see especially when we realized it was petrified.
A local bar had a "tip dog"....if you gave him a dollar bill, the dog would run back to the owner behind the bar and deposit the money with the owner. It cost us about $4.00 to be assured that the dog would do this every time.
The Lucky Peak Dam that we saw on this outing was spewing water out at such a force. Everywhere on this trip we saw high water.
We arrived home to begin doctor visits for Tony that proved to be quite a shock to both of us. Stay tuned for next blog with UK visitors and Sacred Heart Hospital visit.
